About Jenna

I am a native Californian, happily married and live conveniently close to my studio at The Santa Cruz Arts Center. In my free time I enjoy traveling, entertaining, Pilates, urban hiking, tandem bicycling with my husband Gavin, hiking, fashion + design, dining in our many local restaurants and reading in the company of our ginger cat Toby.

In 2001 I decided to reinvent myself and follow a life-long dream of designing, cutting and styling hair. I became a licensed cosmetologist in 2003 and since, have honed my technical skills to specialize. I became a certified Dèva Curl Stylist in 2010 and am very confident with lovingly cutting and styling slightly wavy to curly textured hair of all levels of abundance.  I also specialize in cutting precision, free flowing and creative haircuts of all shapes and lengths. In addition I quite enjoy, and have advances training in, all highlighting techniques to include microlights, balayage/hand painting, color melting, glazing and toning. I combine this experience with a mathematical cutting technique which attends to the relationship between the overall physical dimensions of your face shape, the haircut you desire as well as your growth patterns to give you the lasting value of a bespoke cut and/or color service. My goal is to enable you to recreate your hairstyle at home by offering educational support, styling products and tools as well as a realistic style for your hair type and lifestyle. I am focused on maintaining the highest of technical standards and superlative customer care at every turn!

I follow a holistic approach to cutting, which is responsive to the whole body and lifestyle of my clients. I subscribe to the theory of ‘slow productivity’ so that I can deliver a high quality experience at a pace that works for both of us. I believe that I am best at my craft when I truly listen to my clients and ask in-depth discovery questions about their routines, goals, aspirations and concerns.  I attend as many local, online, statewide and national classes as I am able; I am passionate about cutting hair, highlighting and continuing education!

All services include an in-depth consultation and are scheduled by time + materials based on your particular haircare needs, desires and preferences. Gratuity is included.
