“I cannot find enough words to express my experience with Jenna at L'Atelier.  I have battled with my fine curly hair forever! I actually had an afro in my younger days!  I also have spent years blowing it out straight which was a real pain. If there was a little bit of humidity in the air it would just become a ball of frizz!  Over the years I have experimented with many products and hair stylists. Then I learned about the Deva Cut. Curly hair has to be cut DRY! I found the Deva Curl Salon while living in New York and learned quite a bit.  In the past, I was never happy with a cut because the stylists weren't knowledgeable or trained to cut curly hair! After the cut, when your hair dries, the curls are healthier, bounce up and your hair is much much shorter than anticipated!   There are stylists everywhere who are certified through Deva Curl Salon. I have learned that some say they are but they are not truly certified. Well, Jenna is a MASTER. She was the original owner of L'Atelier and sold it to Megan who was a stylists at the salon.  Jenna has trained her staff and is so passionate about hairstyling. She first consulted with me to learn about what I like, don't like and what my vision was. She offered her opinion and we both came to an agreement. She advised me to take things slow! I wanted more layers in the back since my hair wasn't curling much and seemed flat and straight.  She was concerned about leaving it too thin on the bottom and creating a hole so she took it slow and cut a few long layers. I had told her I was not much of a fan of the Deva products (been there, done that), so she suggested I try the Kevin Murphy products. I was so amazed a the final results! My hair never felt and looked so healthy! To my surprise, she scheduled me for a follow-up at no charge the following week.  She wanted me to do my own thing and decide if I wanted any changes. She even gave me samples of all the Kevin Murphy products she used, so I can try them out at home! To try and make this short......I went back and we decided to layer it a bit more and Balayage with lowlights. I am so in love with my hair now! I can't stop touching it! It's truly a miracle! Jenna is even more knowledgeable, understanding, patient and skilled than the stylists I met at the Deva Curl Salon in New York.  I had said to her, "You should be the one out there training stylists on how to cut curly hair!" Well, be careful what you wish for! She has recently informed everyone she is retiring from L'Atelier! When I first heard this I was devastated. She reassured me Megan is also a MASTER and will take very good care of me. My next appointment will be in October and Jenna is going to be there to guide her. Stay tuned. I know Megan will be great! I read a few reviews about the prices being too expensive.  Their styling skills, follow-ups, friendliness, and communication skills are so so worth it!”
